Taipei is a committed city dedicated to build a sustainable future. Same as other major cities in the world, Taipei faces the crisis of extreme climate and lack of water resources owing to the impact of climate change. Therefore, we take positive actions to reduce carbon emissions and enhance urban resilience. In the 21st century, Taipei City strives to move towards a healthy, friendly and livable city.
With reference to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the UN, Taipei City takes the theme of “Global Perspective, Taipei Action” as a starting point, and illustrates the link between sustainable development results and SDGs. Among the 17 SDGs announced by the UN, Taipei City has given priority to seven of them. In September 2019, Taipei City officially published the "2019 Taipei City Voluntary Local Review (VLR) "
Through this Voluntary Local Review, it is known that the development of Taipei City lies not in the scale of urban growth and development, but in inclusiveness, diversity, as well as emphasis on standard of living, and environmental protection.
In the future, in addition to continuing to propose more active climate actions, Taipei City will continue devoting its efforts to the three major dimensions of “Engagement of Environmental Regeneration and Resource Circulation”, “Promotion of Social Security and Sharing Society”, and “Smart Growth of Economy and Technology.”
Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.
